Drown - Journal Entry 2
The next few chapters were alright . So now the boy talks about his family . His mother gets cheated on all the time and the kids even know it . Plus, their father was strict too and every time he raises his voice... His little sister gets scared . That part there reminded me of a show I seen, although I forgot what it was called . The show is very similar to what happened so far in the story . Father cheats, kids know and he's strict . I don't even have to picture it in my head . I've seen it happen on t.v and it made me feel uncomfortable . I don't like men who are like that . Men who does wrong doings at all times and takes it out on their own children and wife .
Drown - Journal Entry 1
So far I found this book "Drown" very interesting . The book talks about a boy who describes his life as a young boy, about the age of 9 . He also says how he always use to try to follow his brother and every time he did he would get punched in the face . (lol) That reminded me of when I was younger and since I didn't have no brothers or sisters to look up to I always use to look up to my cousin . I would follow her also but she won't punch me in the face . She'll try to bribe me with some money or candy to go away .
Old man and the Sea - Journal Entry 2
What I thought about what i read so far was that how I liked how the boy is so concerned about the old man . Plus, when the boy feels like he haven't gave enough to the old man he puts himself down and thinks that he's thoughtless . I deffenetly know how the young boy feels because when i buy my mom presents or do stuff for her I feel like I'm not giving or doing enough for her . My mom gave me a lot in m life and it's hard to top what she has given me .
Old man and the Sea - Journal Entry 1
In this book I've read so far doesn't really say much . I honestly found it a little boring . I did like the
relationship of the young boy and the old man . They take care of each other and the young boy always wants to help him out . I find that really sweet . I think the boy see's the old man as a father figure . I wonder why ? The boy is so attached to him and still wants to be in the same boat as the old man even though he hasn't caught any fish in about 85 days . Plus, the boat the boy went to; (the new boats) he caught fishes . But, the boy doesn't care and he wants to stay fishing with the old man .

Fab 5 Essay - How to .
Ann Christine Espino
Mr.Powers
Fab-Five Essay
Sir James Matthew Barrie writes , "If you cannot teach me how to fly , teach me how to sing." This quote means that if you can't learn how to do one thing, you can always do another thing . Its impossible to teach someone how to fly but you can teach someone how to sing . It also reminds me that there are things that I can teach to others . If i had to teach something to someone, I would teach them how to make empanadas . YUM ! I would show them how to tenderize the meat, what seasoning to put in it and how to fry them .
First you need to to gather all the ingredients . You need Ground Beef , seasoning , cheese and Goya discos . Now you need to cook the ground beef separately from the rest . To make the meat taste extra good you need to put the seasoning in it . I suggest to put a bit of salt , pepper , adobo , and other types of seasoning that you want, but remember not to put too much seasoning . You don't want to make it too saltly or anything . Now that you put seasoning in it you must mix it all up . Take the frying pan , put a little bit of oil in it and make sure the flame is low . Put the meat in there and let it cook .
When its done cooking you should drain the oil in the strainer .
Next you must take out the goya discos and place them on a plate . Take the Cheese put it on the goya disco then put the meat on top . When your done with that you have to fold it in half and take the fork and press down to make striped marks . Turn it around to the other side and do the same . Don't press it too hard, you don't wanna break it .
Now that you've completed making it you must fry it . Take the frying pan, put oil in it and let it heat up . Make sure the flame is low once again . You don't want to burn it . Once the oil is hot you can put the empanada in it . In about 5-9 minutes it should be done cooking . You may take it out and let it air out . The empanada is hot ! Then once its good and not that hot , you can eat it and enjoy it !
In Conclusion , you should make Empanadas =)

The Pursuit of Happyness
This film is about a father and a son who struggles with financial problems . In the beginning of the movie, Chris Gardner's wife was still there and very supportive and as time went by she slowly stopped being the supportive wife she was before . In the middle of the movie she left her husband and her child to be in New York and try to make some money because as she said , she wasn't happy anymore .
1. What happen's in Chris Gardners Life to make him and his son become homeless?
He didn't have enough money for rent which caused him and his son to get kicked out .
2. Did the Events appear to you to be the result of someone's fault, poor decesions, or just a sequence of events?
I think it was poor decesion, because behind everything you do you always have to think it through and ask yourself what if... Also just a sequence of events because everyone makes mistakes and you can always re-do things and start a new beiginning but you just have to strive for what you want/need.
3. What would be different for Chris in this same situation if he didn't have his son, Christopher, to care for?
He wouldn't have to leave his intern to become a stock-broker earlier and i don't think he would be as depresed but, I don't think he would be as movtivated because i think it's his son that keeps him up and movtivated.
4. What would be different for Chris and his son in this same situation if they became homeless in Chicago?
I think what would be different is the location and finding a job would probably be harder.
5. What appears to be the most difficult aspect for Chris and his son as they use emergency shelters?
Getting there to time to have a bed, leaving work earlier than usual and picking up his son from Day-Care.
6. What do you think keeps Chris going when he hits 'bottom' in the despair of his situation?
I believe his son is what kept him going when he hit rockbottom .
7. What do you think would have happened to Chris and his son if he had not been the intern selected for the job?
I think if he hadn't been selected to become an intern he would look and try for another job . Just because, the kind of man he is .. He is a striver and trys to do what he can for him and his family .
Watching this film made me realize anyone from anywhere can become what they want if they try hard enough . For example , Chris Gardner came from nothing . He was poor and now he's rich =]
I believe if you have the determination and the movtivation you can achieve anything and that is the lesson learned in this film .
